Jambi Port Branch was originally located in the city of Jambi (Boom Batu) and since 1996 it was relocated to Talang Duku, at the downstream of Batang Hari River, 10 kilometers from the city of Jambi. Most of the activities at Jambi Port are stevedoring of bulk goods, both dry and liquid. The hinterland of Jambi Port produces rubber, plywood and molding, which is a commodity export to the USA, Europe, Middle East, Japan and Korea. Other ports managed by Jambi Port Branch are Kuala Tungkal Port and Muara Sabak Port. Kuala Tungkal Port is located in the estuary of Pengabuan River, around 10 miles from the outer threshold. Kuala Tungkal berth, made from 156-meter long concrete, is currently primarily used to serve passenger ships heading to Batam. Muara Sabak Port is located around 10 miles from the estuary of Batanghari River, and is in the heart of the Triangle Growth of Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore (IMS), and adjacent to the cross-trade area of Singapore, Batam and Johor (SIBAJO).

With its strategic location, Muara Sabak Port, which has a 100-meter long concrete pier, is projected to have a vital role in advancing the national economic growth and trade activities. Muara Sabak Port is designed to be a modern port that will integrate with industrial and trade areas. This port is equipped with a container terminal, general cargo terminal, dry bulk terminal and liquid bulk terminal.
